In 2014, while attending a holiday party at Chicago's Fulton Market Kitchen, designer Liz Williams checked her chic, hand-made, winter coat. The attendant remarked that she loved the coat and had been looking for something just like it. Liz graciously thanked her and mentioned that she made the coat by hand. The next day, Liz discovered a note from the attendant in her coat pocket, "Interested Buyer," further encouraging Liz to launch her women's outerwear line, Coat Check Chicago.
Named a "Power Player" in 2017 by Michigan Avenue Magazine, Designer Liz Williams hopes to re-build Chicago's manufacturing roots through her outerwear line, Coat Check Chicago. Liz is an Instructor of Fashion Design at Columbia College in Chicago. She graduated from Parson’s School of Design with a degree in Fashion Design and earned her Bachelor's degree at The University of Colorado where she studied Costume Design. Liz cites her most formative years as those spent behind the sewing machine studying vintage garments and constructing costumes for some of Chicago's most iconic theatres; including The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
